Seishi was born and raised in Kumamoto, Japan. After college, he worked at the Five Star Hotel Okura, where he soon became a manager. In 1968, Rocky Aoki (founder of the Benihana Restaurant chain) persuaded Seishi to come to the US and manage one of the first Benihanas in Chicago. Soon he was asked to move to Honolulu, Hawaii, and managed the new Kobe Japanese Restaurant chain.
A few very successful years later, Kobe expanded to California (Rancho Mirage). There Seishi and his wife, Hiroko, raised a family and managed Kobe for over twenty years! Upon its opening, Kobe became of Southern California's favorite restaurants, as it still is today. The journey has been long and hard, but also rewarding. Seishi is finally fulfilling his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own restaurant: Miyama of Colorado. Your dining experience at Miyama will not only be enjoyable, but also memorable.
This is Seishi's promise to you!
